Our field technicians and professional engineers have undergone years of extensive training to acquire their level of construction testing expertise.

We take great pride in the accomplishments and experience our technicians and engineers have acquired some of the most pertinent professional certifications being earned from...

American Concrete Institute  (ACI) is a leading authority and resource worldwide for the development and distribution of consensus-based standards, technical resources, educational programs, and proven expertise for individuals and organizations involved in concrete design, construction, and materials, who share a commitment to pursuing the best use of concrete.

The Troxler Electronic Laboratories  were founded in 1958 by William F. Troxler, Sr. in the basement of his Raleigh, North Carolina home. Mr. Troxler pioneered the development and production of the nuclear testing and measuring devices which have become the de facto standard testing devices utlized world-wide by the construction and agricultural industries.

Troxler develops, manufactures, services and provides training and maintenance support for the company's precision quality control measurement equipment, nuclear gauges, gyratory compactors and asphalt ignition ovens through its international sales and support offices in the USA, Canada and Germany including 50 authorized distributorships located in various nations around the world.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation  was officially established in 1967 by combining the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles, the State Highway Commission, the State Aeronautics Commission and the State Patrol.

The department is responsible for planning, building and maintaining Wisconsin's network of state highways and its Interstate highway system as well as planning, promoting and financially supporing statewide air, rail, water transportation and our state's bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

The American Welding Society  was founded in 1919 as a nonprofit organization with a global mission to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying.

AWS offers Professional Certifications and Endorsements  certification categories inspectors, supervisors and educators to radiographic interpreters, welding engineers and fabricators of automatic, semi-automatic and manual welding, brazing, soldering, ceramics, lamination, robotics, thermal spray processes including such critical matters as welding safety and health.

The International Code Council  develops "building codes" and "standards" generally mandated by law by most U.S. communities and many global markets which mandate the use of the International Codes® or I-Codes® developed by the council.

Fifty states and the District of Columbia have adopted the I-Codes at the state or jurisdictional level.

Federal agencies including the Architect of the Capitol, General Services Administration, National Park Service, Department of State, U.S. Forest Service and the Veterans Administration also enforce the I-Codes.

The Department of Defense references the International Building Code® for constructing military facilities, including those that house U.S. troops around the world and at home.

Amtrak uses the International Green Construction Code® for new and extensively renovated sites and structures. Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands also mandate the use of one or more of the I-Codes.

The technical expertise, personal attention to detail, rapid response to resolving coordination conflicts, testing accuracy and the individual care and attention to client concerns that our technicians and engineers bring to each project is what sets CGC, Inc. apart from our competition.

Foundation Consulting
Foundation Consulting

CGC offers consultation during construction on all types of shallow and deep foundations, spread footings, compacted aggregate piers, mats, piles and drilled shafts.

Field personnel perform subgrade observations to compare the soil profile determined by subsurface borings with actual conditions.

Soil or rock subgrades supporting shallow foundations are evaluated for load-bearing capacity and potential for settlement. Deep foundations require careful observation of installation techniques, driving resistance and soil/rock characteristics to ensure expected performance is achieved.

CGC has more than 75 years of collective experience in civil and geotechnical engineering. We have literally performed thousands of foundation observations for many types of structures including single story and high-rise buildings, parking ramps and structures, wastewater treatment plants, industrial sites, wind farms and power plants.

Specialty Consultations

CGC staff are fastidious about focusing their attention during the review of the material properties of earth that will support your construction project.

Site properties of soils and rock all the way to bedrock are investigated to determine and ensure all engineered properties of materials meet the obligations of the construction project.

Concrete Testing

The quick response, accuracy, individual attention and clearly communicated results of CGC staff are some of the features that set our concrete testing services apart from our competititon.

Our on-site staff will sample and test concrete for slump and air content, working with you on a day-to-day basis to document the quality of your work materials.

CGC will also cast your cylinders, properly cure them on-site and transport them to our Dane County or Milwaukee County testing facilities where certified staff will perform compressive strength testing.

In addition, beams can be cast for flexural strength determination at either of our testing facilities. Test results are written in easy to understand terms and reported immediately via email.

For ongoing projects CGC performs in-depth statistical analyses to identify strength variations and fine-tune your concrete mix.

Non-destructive test methods are available for special applications. To allow concrete form removal at the earliest possible time, CGC will monitor compressive strength gain with age using the Maturity Method. The Windsor Probe® and other non-destructive tests are also used, most frequently to gauge the in situ strength of mature structures.

CGC has over 75 years of collective experience in civil and geotechnical engineering. Our firm has completed thousands of projects with normal-strength and high-strength concrete for highways, industrial and commercial structures including single-story, multi-story and high-rise residential construction.
